The Last Post

Its crazy how fast this winter semester went. I enjoyed the time we all spent together, though it may have only been one day a week, we all came together to learn one thing..how to communicate better. If it were a course that we were all "forced" to take or not we all benefitted.
This course will not only help how my career, but how I can overcome fear in the feature. By allowing myself to even say good morning to everyone in the elevator it can really go a long way because I feel that I will be able to go up to others and present my work to them. I think the public speaking chapter will definitely help me out in my public speaking class next semester!

Communications is learned, there is no doubt about that. I have found not only that it is a great skill but a difficult one to master.
I have a profound respect for those that have even accomplished standing up to hundreds of people even if they are only trying to sell me a bunch of pots.

As a communications/speech pathology major I know that I will be practicing everyday to better myself, I will even keep the textbook to have a more theory side of it a well.

Last Day of Class

Time goes quickly. This class for seven weeks is done. Even though it is only one day a week, I really enjoy it because it is a vivid and wonderful class. I have learned a lot which enrich my mind and my lives.

Firstly, fear always stops me to do well. I have learned how to face it to get releases. Secondly, I also learned how to think more positive, so more positive things will come back to me. We cannot change our past, but we can change our future by thinking positive. We should not be influenced by the negative past if we prefer to live happier. Additionally, we also cannot change a person, but we can change their behaviors and thinking. Although persuading people to change their thinking and no good behaviors is a tough task, if we are developed a topic with a good organization and subject, audiences will turn on to listen and are influenced.

I strongly believe that communication is learned. By learning healthy communication skills, I understand how to respect diversity, such as different culture, backgrounds, languages, religions and viewpoint.  I will try to please, apologize, do not disagree and put myself down; I will use effective responses to reflect others who they really are.

This class meets my expectation. Not only my communication skills are improved and also the knowledge of communication skills is gained a lot which exceed what I thought before. I will keep practicing and learning to improve my communication even more.

6 great weeks!!!

and the semester is finally over, its crazy how much you can learn in such a short period of time.I have always known that communication is a big part of everyones life, but taking this course has made me realize how much we affect our on life by the way we communicte with ourselves and others, this course has made me change a lot, it has tought me a lot about myself, when I first came itno the class I knew that it will be a good course to take, professor Trapani made it even better, having a teacher that relates so much to his students, and that is always challenging us to be better everytime, made this experience great. My view in communication has changed a lot, it has thought me how to be a better person by communicating in a different way, by changing my "baseline", this course made me digg into myself very deeeply and start knowing where is that everything started, it showed me that for me to be happy, I have to accept myself and change the things that don't make me happy and move on.After this class I have learned that communication is learned in a higher stage, i have learned that my whole life I have been just talking to people, but never actually communicating, my skills are changing and I see them already, I will take this experience and this class into my everyday life, so that i can become a better person and have a better communication with my family, friends, relationships, coworkers and classmates, this will show them that i have improve my life and how much better of a person I will be.
Thank you to everyone in this class, I will definitely keep everyone in my heart, and Im sure that we will cross paths again and we will talk about this class and how much it has affected our lifes.

I can't believe this is how we end for this class. still refreshing me up like it just seems like yesterday I was late and sat in the middle of room with eyes staring each other in the first day of the class.

I learned a lot thing in this class, from head to toe, it all absorbed into my stomach and changing my life into a different level, I changed some of my bad habits and behaviors: like lateness and lack of communication. I know this really gonna kill me. I will do whatever it takes to improve my poor communication skills. I know that the opportunity is created by ourselves not others, I didn't know that the communication is a part of culture, and it also an art of presentation. I strongly believe that communication is learned by many different ways of speaking.

now I'm going to prepared for next semester to face THE F___ = FEAR inside of me. I know now it's very important to know how to communicate in our society. I will be more open and communicate with people and making friends. otherwise, I will be wasted my time for taking this class for nothing if I don't digest the food in my stomach. I'll be shamed that Professor Trapani shared all his knowledge with us in class if I don't change anything. This class has met my expectation, it really effects me the ways of thinking. from a bad listener to a better listener, it is also respect to others and I convinced myself for not been sleeping when I was really tired sometimes in the class also the class was so interested in me and make me forgot how tired I was. now I will be improved myself by showing what I have learned from this class, to show some work done to thank you Professor Trapani~!!! :)

During the whole six week session it went really fast. At first when i signed up for the class i was like o my gosh can i really take this class, because i have to get up in front of the classroom in speak to everyone, and the class was all day so i would have to talk all day. But, when i got into the class it wasnt that bad at all. Our first day of class our professor talked about fear. He talked about fear i felt alittle it better. I felt that he read my mind because that what i had before i enter the classroom. Another thing that the professor had us do was to get up in walk around to introduce ourself to our classmates. This is what gave a crack in the ice from my fear of speaking in front of people i didnt even know.

I have learned so much from being in this class but i am going to name a few thing that really touch me the most about this class and they are number one the five step's of listening and they are Attention, interpretation, evalvation, responding, and message storage. When people talk and you listen to them you wil get a better understanding of what they are saying to you. Another lesson i have learned is ethos, patho's, and logos. These three term's came from Aristole, and his persuassion ethos is ethical, pathos is emotional, logos is logical. This is good to know the meaning of this is because when we go to speeches or hear them we will know what kind of speech's these speechers are trying to persuassion. We recently learned about Toulmin model claim, data, and warrant. Self Discloser is something that other people wouldnt know about you. It something that you you have to tell people they would be able to see it if you didnt not state it about yourself.

I learned that communication is a form of art the reason why i know this is because i was taught it in class. At first when the professor told us that i was like how. But he should us that it is many ways that you can communicate wit each other. I feel that this class is a wonderful class it doesnt need to change at all. I like the class alot because it taught me how to communicate with people i dont even know much better than i did before by using what i have learned from the class. Thank you alot profferssor for what you have taught me.

Last day

Well, at first I was takin this class because it's required for my major, I wasn't into it vecause I thought it would be all talking and that's it. However, after a few weeks I changed my opinion because I learned that communication is not only speaking, but listening; in addition, there are other types of communication such as non verbal. I learned that communication is an art because because every individual communicates in an unique way. This class made me realized that sometimes you have to say im sorry even if you think you don't have to say it. For instance, I hae a friend that tents to get upset very quickly so we have had situation where we don't talk to each other for days even for weeks. But now when she wants to argue about something I talk to her like very calm because before I always argued with her or ignored her because sometimes she exagerated the issue.now I say i'm sorry if I have to because I'm not always right. I think acting in a defency or argumentative way does not get anywhere.

Communication can be learned throughout the person's expience but also it can be learn in school. Communication is more thatn being understood, it is how you are being understood. Sometimes the way we express something is not always what we meant to say. For example, if a guy sees his ex girlfriend in a bar and sent her a drink because he wanted to go to her, if she takes the drink he might think that she wants to talk to him too, but it might be that she really like the drink and she doesnt want to reject it. Also, might be that she thought he just wanted to be seen. Who knows what else could be. The point is that an action or a word can be interpretered in many ways so becareful.

And yes! This class met my expectations I learn so many things that I can apply to my life to make it better. I think this class was very completed due to the fact that we did many group activities and when the teacher explained a chapter he gave us example which we could relate to. The only thing was that sometimes the teacher was talking about a topic and then he jumped to another one which made him forgot what he was talking before but it was a pleasure for me to be part of this class.

the last class

Sis weeks passed quickly. To summarize what I have learned in this short period,  I feel like I got more idea of what communication indicate. I also learned that communication is a form of art, and it can be learned by instruction and practice. Before taking this course, I thought that communication is a profound subject. And how well the communication skill a person has depends on his/her character. Now, my view has changed by knowing some of key element about communication. For example, there are several perspectives we can simply apply in our life. One of them is listening because a good communication starts with listening carefully.  

            It is hard to change a person’s attitude or value, but we can improve the way we communicate by learning and experiencing. For example, doing our project is a challenge and testing. Most of us were busy in working and studying at the end of semester, and each of us has our own idea about how to do it. However, after our effort, we arranged our schedule and finish our team work. Anyway, the class meets my expectation because it taught me much information and also, comparing with other class, it offers many ways for us to get to know each other.

Last class

I can say everyone can agree with me when I say this was a great course! Especially thanks to our professor, I took this course last semester and I withdrew because it was so boring and I took it in the 6 weeks to get it over with faster. Even though we only met once a week for 7 hrs, it was totally worth it! This course made a major influence in my life because everything I learned I applied and will always apply to my life moving forward. Now that I'm aware of my inner "FEAR" I try to face it, when I'm placed in an uncomfortable situation which has to deal with communicating with others I try to just do it and get it over with and it's such a big relief afterwards and I also tend to feel more confident. Also when I'm doing certain things I always think back to "you" and "self" and ask myself is this something I want to do or am I doing this to satisfy someone else?
I truly believe communication is learned because I learned how to be a more effective communicator which I wasn't at all before this course. Before I took this course I thought communication was just about talking and body language but I learned that it has to deal with who YOU are inside and how it has such a big influence on us that it prevents us from being great communicators. If there has to be any improvement I'll say more real life examples because that's what made the course so much more interesting because professor Trapani knew how to target our emotions and how to keep us entertained! I hope to have the privilege to be one of his students again!

The End Conclusion

Today was the last day of HUC101 course. I recalled the first day of class I have fear, and I am weak in speaking. I thought taking this course could help me maximize my speaking ability. To think, when I talk to someone or say something, I don't feel like to watch each other, but now I learned that way means that respect to each other. I remembered the first thing i learned is that The Aristotle' s appeal, ethos, pathos and logos, it impact to my literature and help me in speech, writing academic paper or even working on presentation. Although this six weeks course, but it's really helpful for students who are lack of speaking skills. It's a form of art, and it's important in relationship as well. I knew now the course is finish but I think that the things I learned in the course can actually be used in our world, we communicate to friends....family.... When we work, we use different behavior to communicate to co-worker....and that being more disclosure will definitely develop more relationship, so far I learned enough thing that I expected before the class.
In addition, I really like the ways prof Santo teaching, because if students don't like the ways of teaching, they will just turn off their listening, which is what we learned in the course about hear and listen. If students turn off their listen they wont learn anything. But all of us turn on "listen" and staying in the class from 9 to 3,4, learned knowledge that conduct to our life. I strongly believe all of us like Professor Santo including me. Hopefully in future I could be your student again!! Thank you Professor Santo Trapani !!!!!!

Final Class

Today is final day for our speech course. Even though it is not a long term session, we have a very happy time. We have a funny and nice professor. Before I take this course, I was hesitating because it was not an easy class for a second language student like me to take. I really wanted to improve my communication, but I didn’t have much courage. After taking this course, I changed my view of communication. It’s not what I thought that it was a scary and difficult thing. What I need to do is put my confidence on my communication. My communication skills improved. I strongly agree that communication is an art. After our group project, I learned more about three ways to persuade the audience when you presentation: ethos (ethical appeals), pathos(emotional appeals), logos(logical appeals). I study how to have a successful presentation. I also learned a lot of things, and these things are useful in my future life. I remembered that the professor taught us what self discourse and fear are, it gave me a chance to learn more about myself. The baseline is interesting for me. When the professor taught it, I recalled my friends’ behavior or talking which is useful. Also, I learned how to communicate with other people. I realized that people use different ways to talk with different people. On the other hand, I know how to plan my future life in a better way.
After taking this course, I will try to change some habits on communication. I will try to speak slowly, and I will use some body language and eye contact when I talk with other people. To be a good listener also is an important thing which respects others.
At the end, I want to say that this class is really helpful. The professor taught us a lot, and he always gave many different examples to help us to understand in an easy way. It helps me to remember. I enjoy taking this class!

last class!!!

I didn't know that this class can be that interesting all six weeks we been together. Thanks to prof. Trapani by sharing all his knowledge with us. I learned a lot in this class, I can say I changed my behavior toward me and others, and hopefully I will see more good changes in the future. This course had a huge influence on the way I think. Now I can say I'm more open, I communicate more and I think I become a good listener. Since we had this discussion in the class that we don't listen that much, I convince myself and I start listen more, because I think there is a purpose that somebody is talking and I have to use it as a benefit. I feel I can talk forever about this course, Professor was making so many good points in the class, and we were discussing them because they were related to us and to our society. I think this course was so interesting, because any topic that we were discussing was related to our need, every topic was all about us that's what it made it so interesting.

Last Day

In this class I learned a lot if I started to list topics I will never ended. What I think it was the most important that I got out of this class was that I learned how to communicated with other in a more effected way. Based on what I learned in this class I think that now I am to make a speech much better. Now I have more experience and knowledge of what is a good or bad speech and how to create an excellent one. I also learned the importance of learned and how language could lead to benefit you or hurt you. I also learned the language is very important in your daliy life because we used it all day long in place like work, school, home and with famliy and friends. The view that I has of communication hasn't change. The reason why is because I have all thought that communication is very important. We must communicated with our classmates, professor, friends, boss and famliy in order to know their needs and what is going on in their lifes.

Before taking this course I thought that communication wasn't learned that it was part of our nuture, but with this course I learnes it's learned and it's an art. The way to learn it is thought taking a course. This course has helped me to think back and picture something before doing it. For example now I have plans for my life, I used to plan what i wanted to do. Now I just do things with out looking or doing what I plan, I just act for the furture. I think this course is great how it is. The reason why I think that the class is excellent is because we do a lot in this class. We work in our own and also learned and gain the experience of working with others. This course over met my expectations because I learned a lot of new topics and discover that communication is more important that of what I thought it was. Also that communication is an art and it's learned.

Best course ever!!!!

I don't even know where to start this class was excellent. Prof Trapani was very practical which helped me stay intrested and on task. I would never expect this course to be so interesting. Language has powerfull effects on the ways that we think and experience the world. It made me realize how important listening and self- disclouser is. Disclousure can strengthen relationships by signaling trust and commitment. To be a succesful communicator, we must be willing to follow cultural rules and norms. I never knew that people who make eye contact are judge as friendlier and more natural and sincere. Knowing how to communicate clearly and effectively will benefit us no matter what career we choose, it will enhance our job performance. I truly believe that communication is learned. People who frequently move between cultures are often more sensitive to the fact that culture is shared. "When you thinking positively it's hard to feel fear when your body is relaxed, it's impossible to feel tense". I Will apply evrything i learned about communication in my evryday life. final day

In the course, I learned a lot. I remembered one part, “your self.” Within you, there are two, you and the self. “You” is created by our society, culture, and environment and so on. “The self” is pure and nothing. After learning the “your self,” I really though about what I am, am I closer to “you” or “yourself.” Before I took the course, just as professor said, I thought communication just talk to each other. After taking the course, I believed that “communication is learned.” Like body language can affect our communication. Also when we are communicate to interpersonal or organization, they are totally different.

After I took this course, I thought my communication skills have be improve. Before I took this course, I always quite and don’t want to talk to other people who speaks English. Because we have group project, I have to talk and discuss with my group members. Even though, sometime I speaked not clearly, they will ask me back questions that make the question clear. The course did meet my need, from the course, I learned some actual skills, and then I have chance to practice. I really enjoy this class and group.

last day

Today was the last day of communications class. I learned alot of new things in this class that I can apply to in the real world. Such as how to effectively communicate at a job interview or how to communicate to another person effectively. I definitely learned about team work in the class and how to learn how to work in a team enviornment. I also learned about the many different forms of languages in communications.
I think this class did meet my expectations. Because I learned alot and I felt like I just did'nt go to any ordinary class and go in and out without any knowledge of the subject at hand. I can now apply what I learned in this class to the real world at work and other opportunities. In my opinion this is probably the only course that I will use most of what I learned in the class room to the world outside. I had Great semester and alot of fun in the class.

The last day

Today is the last day for this course. Everyone is very excited. After this class, I learn more about communication. Like the 3ways to persuade the audience when you presentation: ethos( ethical appeals), pathos(emotional appeals), logos(logical appeals). And the most important one is how to prepare a presentation. It is very helpful for me in the future. Before I take this class, I think communication is just talk with each other, share the information to the others. But in fact communication refer to different areas. Communication is not just talk. It is about interaction, non-verbal communication, relationship, multi-cultural, listenting, etc.
I believe that "communication is learned". Although after we borned, we start to community with people. It is just basic step. We should learn more about communication, like how to community with interpersonal, organization, the history about communication, etc, when we study in college. Also this class is very helpful for me in real world. I know how to become a good listener. It is not just hear when we listening. It should receiving, constructing meaning and then responding to spoken.
I think this class is very funny and helpful. It is meet my expectations. Professor not only talk about the knowledge about the textbook, he also related to the real world, so that we can easily understand and remember. He also tells us that "our world is created through words", it is very meaningful. I really enjoy this course. Good luck for all my classmates!!!

the last day of class

       I really learn in this class that i can remeber was all the essay things such as thesis, introduction, i can apply in communcation. when i talk to someone i usually talk which means dont develop what i try to explain. i like tojump from one topic to another. that was the reason why people does understand me alot. right now i learn from the class was how to put my idear into a way that people can really understand me. and before, when i look at the word communcation i never related this word to being suit, before i think that if we dont know how to talk than there is not a problem, we can talk the things that we think is right but may not for the other people; we can ignore the diversity ; i was really hate history, i just trying to ignore everything really to history which include diversity. right now , i know that diversity is the most important thing in everywhere, if i try to ignore it . it going to have a huge impact later.that was the view of communcation i change after this class.    
     Before, i know that some people are learing how to talk, and they were really good at talking. i really like these kind of people who knows how to talk.i was wanting to have the same ability to talk like them; however, i dont know the way of learn it. after this class, i know a little be about how we should talk in some publc, working place, and a little indivdual. however i think it is really not enought. therefore , i think communcation is learned. in this class, i think it was a great class, if there was a rate , i will vote for 200+ however, i was not feel enought, i think professor should talk more about how to talk in everyday life. because i think that not everyone could have a chance to speak at public, and also the work place most of people just try to be quiet. the huge problem which happen everyday was friends and family talk which is really not enough i think the whole semester should talk about this 2 topic, of couse professor talk alot about this two  however i dont feel enought. if the school let me talk again i will talk in long semseter, cause i think this class is important than another other major couses.

Last Day

In this class I feel like I learned so much. Prior to this class I didn't think much of the way I communicated, or the way people communicated with me. As the class progressed I learned to analyze and figure out why certain people communicate differently. Why some people get along, and why some don't. I realized the importance of self disclosure in order to build a strong relationship. I've always met a lot of people, and wondered why sometimes it was just a hi and bye thing. However I realized that with my close friends, a great deal of self disclosure which is why I was so close with them. I see the importance of communication now, the importance of listening and expressing my opinions. I feel that communication can be learned, and in fact this course made me want to learn more about it. I find it very interesting and little by little it helps me lose my fear of communicating with others, and public speaking.

I don't think much needs to be changed or improved in the class. This worked great for me. I had taken HUC 101 before but I dropped it due to lack of interest, and just reading of power points. I find Prof. Trapani's practical approach and his exampled to be a very effective way of learning. His humorous examples are so easy to relate to, and the way he showed the weight we carry will never be forgotten. The learning truly is memorable and fun which stimulates students into wanting to learn more. This class went above my expectations, I definitely think it's on the top 5 most important course I've taken in my time in LaGuardia.

Watching the Projects

Today we got to watch all the Video Projects. I really enjoyed viewing all of them, many of them were very creative and humorous. It was a great relief to be done with the group project as it was a big part of our grade. I think our group did a good job at presenting information, although we did lack creativity, we did make it up in content. It was a great learning experience for me as it showed me where I belong in a group. It was also great experience as group work is highly needed in workplaces.

The Finale

This was a amazing class, I have learned the importance of communication in the everyday world and although communication i thought was a natural behavior, i was incorrect, it is definitely a skill that is learned. Some special topics that we covered were about self disclosure, Fear...The four letter word and the lesson about yourself. These topics convinced me to look deeper in myself to see who i really am and who i want to be. I am more self concious of how i communicate with others, so that i am not offensive. It has saved me alot of arguements knowing that if i argue there is no solution,You said that one class.Communication is a natural behavior but to be a good communicator you have to be taught. Everything was interesting every class and Trapani was engagiing so i wouldnot change anything. During the longer session i would suggest that the group project be extended so that the students are able to perfect there work. I also think that the last class was kind of confusing but that could just be my opinion since i got a low grade on the assestment. I will definitely apply this to my life from this point on, because i learned through the interviews that we did about our selves, that i am not the best communicator. i am going to strive to be more open and not let fear control my actions. My purpose from this point forward is to live in the self so that i can be more happy with myself and my life. This class has mutured me. "Our world is created through words"-Santo Trapani

FINAL DAY......FINAL THOUGHTS!!!!

What did I learned in this class? First, and most important thing for me is that I have learned how to communicate better with my son who is now 4 years old and I have been having some trouble finding a way to communicate better with him. I tried to change my base line, I was allways setting the rules, but now I am more relaxed towards him.....he is just 4 and it seames that is working at least for now. Even at work I think I communicate better. I am a person that likes to boss people arround and one thing that i have not done so much lately was....listening. I like to talk, but unfortunately I don't like to listen.
I strongly believe that communication is an art and is learned. I hear people left and right talking, but not everybody knows how to communicate. Is true that some people are more gifted than other, but with practice I am confident that we all can became great communicators.
This class was above and beyond my expectations! Why? I wish all the classes were more practical and we can learn how to apply what we learn, in real life. Definitions, theories, we learn them for the test, midterm, final, and couple of days later are gone.... but if we learn how to use knoledge at home, work, day by day in our life, the World would be a better place to live because "World is made through words"!!

Last day class.

I learned from this class what important communication is. Also, I have to be more positive and think that I am successful, and I'm great . I found it very helpful because each examples that Prof Trapani showed in which I learned so much. One of examples I learned was how to find easy way to communicated. I didn't know there were people deconstructing themselves and they have carried it rest of their lives. That made them feel evil or guilt. Another thing I learned to be organizational when we speech .

Communication is very important because the key is learning how to balance our technological time with our personal, face to face time. After talking this class I believe that communication is learned since every day we learn how to have a clean communication and express ourselves. It is step by step. It applies me in relationship which affects me the way I speak or think.For examples, I don't think what I Say and sometimes I hurt people with my words, but I don't mean that. That point communication is learned by us. This class met my expectation because it aspirated me to change my behavior, and everything we do has meaning. I don't think this class needs to be improved , for it was excellent.I liked to work in group and examples in the class. This class was the best class I took because Prof Trapani found the way to students learn more.

Final Reflection

We finally reached the end of this journey and I have to say it's been a fun ride. I learned a great deal in this class. I learned that communication is more than just speaking or exchanging a conversation. Communication is an art form. Before this class, I had a very general understanding of communications but now I can say my knowledge is a bit more profound. I believe that communication is not learned. However, I do believe that in order to refine communication skills one must learn how to do so. Communication is a part of human nature and is something that is embedded within. At first, I was terrified of this class but throughout this course that fear disappeared. I expected a long class full of uncomfortable moments. Fortunately, the class was actually the opposite. I have no complaints with the class. I enjoyed the way certain points were taught and believe that the class was very efficient. I will apply this knowledge by improving my communication skills. Now that I have a better understanding of communications, I can employ this knowledge to my academic career which will ultimately benefit me.

Hello.... so I wasn't in class last week because I was in Pittsburgh having a great time. So did you guys know that the ketchup Heinz came from Pittsburgh. So they have the factory there and they serve the ketchup in these really cute little Heinz bottles it's adorable! Well another crazy thing that happened there, Friday night while I was at a bar the Penguins game was on and they were versing the Islanders, which I don't like either of the teams, however through out the entire game both teams were fighting non stop, even the goalies were getting it on ! So the Islanders ended up getting charged 100,000 dollars for not being able to control their team ! Plus Pittsburgh is crazy about their sport teams ( Pirates, Penguins, Steelers) sport shops everywhere and people rocking their jerseys. Ehhhh By the way for those of you that don't know I was talking about a hockey game...... Tomorrows the last day of class!!

Almost the end..

Its funny how time flies, just weeks ago we were hearing about how we have these video projects and the whole first day jitters to now editing the last touches and excited to see everyone on the last day. We spent most of last friday just filming our last scenes of the project. Earlier than that though we talked about how public speaking is outlined, I feel that this will help me out since I am taking public speaking next semester at 6:45 am, so i'll make sure to remember.
I'd write more but I've got to start uploading the project!

Countdown on 2 ~!!!

first I changed something I don't usually do and I felt odd which I made it. Then, we talked about public presentation, I was thinking about speech and communication unexpectedly it is an art. It is a skill how people address and talk, Presentation can be attracted people by using language property and inform or persuade audience. it's a skill and ability. It's not everyone who thinks it is easy even though we talk everyday like me. that why I am here.
second half of time, Professor gave us some time to do our video project, and finally that was great opportunity to something as a group even though we didn't have much time together. but better than I expected it. Now I know how to make a movie, as beginner lolz, I'm getting there soon.
PS: that final was harder than other exams)>did you feel that?

Last day

On the 6th day of class we spend half time working on our projects. We learned more about public speaking. How we supposed to structure them into three parts: introduction, body, conclusion and the ways we can improve it. Professor thought us the need of claim , data and warrant in order to be effective in persuasion. After class we have stayed like 3 hrs filming and finishing our project. I have just taken the test and didn't do too good on it :( . Hopefully tomorrow gonna be better.

The final Ponder

This was a quick semester. I some what understood the public speaking section of our lesson and it definitely showed on my test. There were a lot of words that i could not connect to. I understood what was discussed in class about organizing our public speeches and the dos and don't, for example the key element of supporting evidence is claim, data and warrant. I understood attitudes,beliefs and values but like i said there was a lot of vocabulary that was unfamiliar. When it was time to take the test, i wasn't able to find it in the textbook. Other than that after class my group and i worked on our group project and that was the most fun i had in a long time.i can not wait to show it in class. Farewell everyone

Day 6- Almost done :(

In that day we learned how to prepare a public speech. There are three types of public speeches informative, persuasive and entertaining. However, the teacher only explained two of them; the informative and the persuasive. A persuasive speech is meant to alter values, attitudes, beliefs, and behavior and an informative speech is meant to increase knowledge. In this lesson I learned the difference between these two. Also, I learned that to make a successful speech, attitude, tone and non verbal communication are essential. Morever, one thing that I know for sure I won't forget is that when you performing a speech NEVER NEVER end and speech saying that's it.

6th day

I remembered that day, we learned how to organize a speech. First, we should have a topic. Then, the purpose and thesis. The introduction should attract listener. Then body, we should data or research to support our claims. In the conclusion, restate the main idea.
Then, we got in group to talk about our group project. we talked about whether we should have to shoot more for the project.

6th day!!!

As I remember, the last class we talked about speech and we discussed how to organize it in many different ways. First we picked a specific topic and we went all over each step. We talked that the thesis (main idea) has to be well organized and used by appropriate materials in order to match the audience needs. We spent just the half day in the class, the rest of the day me and my group we talked about our project, we did some last shooting for the movie and we spent the last our doing the questions for the final.

Week 6

I should have done my post on Friday because now I barely remember what we talked about in class. I remember talking about Presentation skills and how we have to have a thesis in our introduction which will be our main idea, also our topic should be very specific nothing too board, a good example would be the one my group used which was, "The negative long term effect of wearing high heels". We got straight to the point about our topic and later we can build about from there.
We were only in class until 12 or 1 I believe, but my group and I stood until 4:30 filming for only a 7 minute film! Geeish no wonder it takes a year to film a movie that's only a few hrs. But it was a great experience, putting it together and editing was definitely the fun part for me. I can't wait to see everyone's film tomorrow!

Friday Feb 11

On Friday Feb 11, we had a half day. After we finished the lecture we were allowed to work on our project. My group and I took advantage of this opportunity to finish filming our project and get closer to finishing. I feel that the filming went great, and we got to finish all of our parts. All we had left to do after that was to edit the clips together and upload the video.

6th day of class

On the 6th day of class we discussed the art of persuasion. Prior to this I didn't think of persuasion as an art. However as I keep on learning I begin to see why it's called an art, and how much skill is really required. I had always thought that in order to be a good public speaker you just needed practice and confidence and never really gave much thought into actually getting my message across. What would be more important to me is to just be done with it get through it. But on the 6th day of class I learned that in order to be more effective we needed three important factors, claim, data and warrant

Public presentation

This week our topic is public presentation. It is important for us to learn this skill because in both our current school classes and in our future jobs, we are often required to give presentations to both small and large groups. Presentations use language to inform an audience or to persuade an audience to change their mind about something. A good speaker not only has an excellent ability to organize words, but also has the ability to confidently express feelings.

After class, our group members continued to work with our project. We created a video and discussed how we could best do our project. Everyone took part in the activities.

Sixth day of class Reflections

The sixth day of class was interesting. We covered the art of persuasion. Persuasion is when one changes another person's attitude on a certain subject. We did a very fun exercise where we created a topic and chose a point within that topic in which we can either persuade or inform the listener.When doing this, we learned that we needed three factors in order to persuade and inform. These three factors are : claim, data and warrant. I learned a lot during this class and enjoyed it very much.

The 6th Day of Class

On the 6th day of class, our professor still talks about the public speech that is persuasive. It includes fact, value and policy. We need to know their differences. Also, the professor teaches us how to supporting evidence-- claim, data and warrant. I also learn how to research some right information from Google. At the end, the professor talks about how to have a profession presentation, which likes a writing class. It needs to have topic, purpose, thesis, introduction, body and conclusion. It is useful for a college student to know.
After class, we continue to do our group project. Everyone tries to do their best. Even though we meet some problems, we discuss and solve them together at the end. People who are in our group work hard. I am looking forward for our final class, and I hope that we will get a satisfy result.

In class on friday we have learned in talk about persuasaion. Which is the abilty or the power or an opioinion for you to get people to be on your side. Even tho i was late for class i understood what we were talking about. We talk about the intro, thesis,conclusion. The intro you have totry to get people attention, the thesis is for you to prove your points for yor three reasons you feel this is the right way desision to make, and you have to end you end which is the conclusion to make your listeners stick it in there head. you know your example to keep their minds wondering about the sistuation that that talked about. We also learned about Toulumin Model, and his key elements for supporting evidence and they are claim,data, and warrant.

The 6th day of Communication class.

Well on the 6th day of communications class I learned alot about persuasion and how it can affect a persons choice they make. Well persuasion is very prevelant in sales jobs such as marketing a new product etc. It is a key ingredient in the business world for people to succeed. That being said you can persuade almost anyone to believe anything you say, if you say it the right way. They will always trust your belief whether its true or not.

6th day of course: speech

It's the true that the topic of the speech, the purpose, the introduction and thesis are the soul of the speech. For example, the apple CEO, Steve Jobs presented his new products or in the SONY meeting recently the SONY CEO presented the NGP. As one of the audience i am, i am fully engaged by his presentation.
With both persuasion, in the presentation they changed my attitute, my behavior to use their products. Therefore, i bought the apple products such as iphone, ipad...
we learned how to generate an appropirate topic, and the purpose needed to be distinguished. Also, there is many way to start the hook, you could use rhetorical question, humor or using some surprising fact in order to catch the audience attention, their interesting. Next step is to expand the thesis in the body. Finally, the conclusion is the last time we convince the audience. I would say that the most important part are introduction and conclusion. Therefore, we watch some speech, people are solemn, they are concentrating on the speech because all of them are engaged by the speech.

6th Day of Class

It is very interesting that speech communication class is very similar to a writing class in a development of a topic. In order to persuade people to change their behavior and thinking, a good speaker should prepare a wonderful organization to make audiences turn on to listen, such as topic, purpose, thesis, introduction, body and conclusion. By learning of the development of a topic, my mind is clarified. It is not only in speech but also in writing.

After class, we work on our group project for more than three hours. The most important part in the group project is well done, so my anxiety in these days is finally released. We did a good job in the project that we have worked together smoothly and successfully, but I feel sorry that I am not able to attend the edit procedure because I need to go to Con Edison to finish my internship on time. I believe our project will bring fresh feeling and pleasure to our class. I look forward to seeing the final result of the group project.  

Week 6 - Persuasion

In today's class I learned about persuasion. Also the right way to come up with a persuasion topic and how to do a claim, data and warrant. We also learned how persuasion = words/ language and then change = values, beliefs and attitude. Something very important that I learned was that you can't make a claim without research or collected information, but good information from good sources you have to make sure about that. We also learned how to come out with a good topic, a good topic is made with a more specific information than just one word. A purpose is to inform the audience about "your topic"/ to convince/ persuade the audience about "your topic". Here at the purpose your goal is to persuade your audience to change their values, beliefs and attitude with language and words. The next step is your thesis that will discuss in more detail your purpose and take three main points and that will be what you will discuss in your speech. Then comes your introduction that is what you are going to discuss about. The body is where you are going to expand your thesis. The last but not least is the conclusion in here you emphasize your thesis and final opportunity to make your points. Of course NEVER end your speech with THAT'S IT.

What I learned in today's class is so important that I will now apply it to my daily life. The way that I will apply it is by the following when I am having a speech now I will never say "that's it", I have never said it before but now I will make sure to never say it. I will also make sure to have a clear topic and make sure to explain very clear my three main points. From now on I will make sure to organize my speech very good so that my speech comes out very well. Last follow all the steps that makes a persuasion speech very good. I will follow them to come out with a organize and an excellent speech.

In today's class

   Today the main topic was out line public speech. the way of professor teach was really easy for me to get it. because i was in ESL and all the thesis and topic intro, body , conclusion. was been taught many times. so it was kind of easy to get the idea. i never know before that everything i did in the esl and eng can apply to when i am talking, it was really good stuff to make me think and it might make me study hard in eng..
    the things that i really get and to apply to my life was the topic that steven bring to our class. he said one of his friend is mother type or something. it make me think that i am the sameperson and it really make me think about my life and what is gonna be in the future...future agian ...

Friday,10th Feburary

Today we still talk about the purpose of the public speech--persuasive. When we persuasive the topics, we should ask the questions of fact,value or policy. We discuss the different between them. We also talk about the the key elements for supporting evidence--claim, data, warrant. Profssor told us when we research the data on line, we must be careful to check where the information come from. I never realize this before. I think it is very helpful for me this class. At the end of the class, professor taught us what steps should we prepare the presentation (topic, purpose, thesis, introduction, body, conclusion). Although it looks will costing us a long time to prepare a prestation, it will be very helpful for us.
After the class, our group continue making the film. The important thing is how we can have the eye contract with the audience. I think is very hard for us. Because we can't remember all the things, we must read from the screen when we record, so we can't have the eye contract at the same time. But at last, we figured out one solution to solve this problem. I hope we will show a perfect presentation to our classmates next week, and have a happy ending in this class.

Public and Media Communication.

The class was about public and media communication. There were differences examples were showed in the class.Also, what things were important when we would have public speech. How we have to do that.I learned from examples that Prof Trapani showed online. Now, I know that I have to be careful when I research paper. Moreover, we talked about values.
One of examples mentioned in the class was claim, data ,and warrant; smoking caused cancer.It remembered me that I am diagnostic suspicious of thyroid cancer.However, I have never smoked in my life.Also, I learned how to be organized in public speech.It is always expressive. We apply that our communication.

Today in class we have learned how to outline a public speach. Now it makes more sense to me how to prepare a speach, to come up with a topic, thesis, and to develop main ideas. It is more like an essay, but I personally think that is more complicated than an essay because you have to put your personality out there in order to get people attention.
I have allways been uncomfortable to give a public speach, not scared.... uncomfortable, allthough I like to talk a lot...but I learned that if you are comfortable with your subject and well prepared it should be ok. For most people I personally think is it all depends on personality,....so I should be fine!

The 5th day of Friday

damn, that clock did'nt wake me up, I was late again,I waited about 2mins before I opened the door and the professor gave me more surprised when I walked in, smile and say" everyone stares at him",that was something others don't do. The fact,he knows what i was thinking and mention for me do NOT late again, it will get more uncomfortable and worse than worst. he knows I know he've known and he will.,I just can't believe that we just met 5 days even though i don't know how to conmmunicate with others a lot. but we all seems like friendly and unlike others class.
professor Tranpani talked about the interpersonal and professional communication; their impacts in our lives. he memtioned the negative and positive impacts of ways of communication. Everyone has him/her own behavior, the way people walk will cause and effect in this sociality, It can lead people to a different scene, such as, getting fired, gaining respect, a promotion, losing business or law suits.

Fifth Week!!!

Everything we learn lead us one step forward, but in this class I learned so much in a very short time and it still keeps me be interested in it. So today the professor taught us how interpersonal and organizational communication affect people's life at home or at work. We learned what we need to do in order to keep our relationship with everyone in a proper way. It is very hard and challenging to keep up with a relationship. You have to be careful what you say and when you say it, because it might cause misunderstanding. After all this talk the professor let us work on our group projects and to have them ready by the last class.

Day 5

In this class the teacher talked about the interpersonal and professional communication; their impacts in our daily lives. Mr. Trapani pointed out the negative and positive impacts of these types of communication. For instance, in a professional setting different behavior can lead a person to different scenes, such as, getting fired, gaining respect, a promotion, losing business or law suits. This topic was very interesting and informative for me because I don’t have many job experiences; hence, I tent to behave the same way out and in the work place. I joke around with my co-workers the same way I do with my friends, I disclosure myself to some of them because I consider them my friends. However, after this lesson I realized that I should behave differently because this can affect my work environment.

Fifth Day !!!!!

I can't believe it's getting close to the end. I have learned so much during those couple of weeks. Today professor was talking about two different kinds of communication. Interpersonal communication is very casual, made to form relationships. Organizational communication can enhance our careers. It's found in businesses, companies, any personal setting. We also talked about being a responsible communicator. By refusing to play politics, engage in gossip, follow hidden agendas, or attack coworkers, employees can enhance the organizational climate and build a more humane culture. Continue working on my project.

Fifth Week

I feel this class was very informative. We learned about the difference between interpersonal communication and organizational communication. It's very crucial to be able to differentiate between them cause if not people can get sued, or fired. The way one communicates is different depending on the people the interaction is with. You can't act the same way you act with your friends, when it comes to communicating with your parents, siblings or bosses. It is important to realize this to be taken seriously in the workplace. I find it that in today's world, most of today's youth is failing to see that as they tend to act more informal then formal.

On that day we learned about interpernal communication and organization communication. I think that these two communications are very different. When I am talking to friends, I will open my hreat. I will tell them every thing. But when I am talking to my parents, it is very different with my friend.
If when I am working in a organization, I have to talk carefully and professional. Because now we represent the company.

Fifth class reflections

This class was very informative. We learned the difference between interpersonal communication and organizational communication. It is important to understand the dynamics of the workplace and the difference in speech used in each setting. The way one speaks to a friend should be different than the way one speaks to one's boss or coworker. In a professional setting, it is imperative to speak in a manner that demonstrates maturity and intelligence. These skills can eventually lead to bigger and more fruitful opportunities. I've worked in many types of jobs and this always holds true. If one speaks in an informal manner at the workplace, people usually don't take that person seriously and may have a negative perception of the person.

Re-write

In class on Friday, We learned the right way to speak in a professional setting. If we work in a work place, or we come there we are suppose to come there correct. like for example which our professor have told us you cant go in a work place like an dentist you can not come in there and say to someone yo, you what up. That is not the right way to go into a workforce to talk to anyone like that. An example like that or say hey, what cracking, what good those are the things you say to your friends. You talk to people in different ways like for example you family,and at school. This is the art of communication.

5th class.

What I learned in class is about Interpersonal communication has to do with small talk and organizational communication is formal. I also learned about how powerful persuasion is in class. We also did group work which was helpful in understnding these two forms of communication and what they are as examples.

the 5th day of class

        In this class, professoer taught us about what is interpersonal communication , and organizational  communication. the things that i really learn about this 2 topic is i was known that if we make some mistake in  the communication organizational, we could get sue. therefore, i learn that when i go to my job, i really have to pay 100 attention in it. to make sure that nothing goes wrong..
       Another things that i learn from the class is the three advantage we doing public speaking for. 1 is persuasion, gaiting knowledge and to entertain. in the persuasion part i learn that the feeling, attitude and belief are the easy thing to change. however, the value can only change the by time. it really make me think that i might can change the things by myself...

The Fifth Day of Class

On the fifth day of class, the porfessor teaches us what interpersonal and organization are. We also learn what kinds different from these two types communication. Everyone uses different way to talk with other people that depends on enviroment. For example, when we talk with our family, friend, professor or boss, most people will choose different behaviors to communicate.
Public speaking is useful for us, which includes persuasion, gaining information and entertain. Through studying, I am much more interested in this course than I was in the past. Communication is an art.
Finally, we do our group project, it's exciting for me. I believe our group will be successuful !

These had to do with interpersonal and organizational, they are both very different.
While interpersonal has to due with small talk and informal; organizational is formal and a way you would talk to people at work.

My group made a chunk of progress, we still need to film the other half and some editing that we'll all be taking care of.

The fifth day of course: Interpersonal and Organizational

Today we learned 2 forms of communication, interpersonal and organizational. Both are very different when they are commuication to others. I often encounter some of friend, i would say "Hey how are you?, Whassup........" This is what i have learned, called interpersonal communication, which is also called "small talk". But mostly when we go to some company and we need to talk to gatekeeper, and they usually talk like very formal and serious, because they are organizational communication. I see the different between interpersonal and organizational, both they use different behavior to communication. In addition, the communication is a form of art, it's creative. I strongly agree with because as a human being we are, all we can choose different styles to talk to other people, they can choose the words they talk, they can minimize the voice to talk to other people, comfort their feeling.
Public speaking is powerful skill, i think that those successful person out there who have strong public speaking skill helps the companies in many ways, they help companies to present their ideas, they help companies to communicate with other companies. However, we need to practice over and over, we can perform our thought.
With the persuation, we can be able to change people's behavior, thinking, attitute.

Art of communication!!!!!!!!!

In class on Friday, We learned the right way to speck in a professional setting. If we work in a work place, or we come there we are suppose to come there correct. like for example which our professor have told us you cant go in a work place like an dentist you can not come in there and say to someone yo, you what up. That is not the right way to go into a workforce to talk to anyone like that. An example like that or say hey, what crackin, what good those are the things you say to your friends. You talk to people in different ways like for example you family,and at school. This is the art of communication. But last but least i learned that if a co-worker e-mail you something unprofessional you are just suppose to leave it and dont say anything.

interpersoanl/organizational /group project

The topic that i grasped was the fact that we must not act the same way with our friend in a professional atmosphere. Of course i know these things but i see so much people in the area become rude, obnoxious and disrespectful. Fortunately i have a both formal and informal relationship with my boss but i definitely show here respect when she ask me to do things. Just recently she was telling me our some people at another job and how the employees and very disrespectful to the employer. when talking on a upward flow we must use our words wisely and remember to not go over any one's head to talk to a chief or leader about anything.I also learned about flat command,because of technology we communicate better with our leader. through email workers can talk to CEO and vice verse. We also spoke about public speaking and that there are only two forms of speech:informative speech and persuasive. After our lesson he gave us more time to work in our group ,at first i was getting nervous that other classmates had already started filming but after our last meeting we have it all mapped out,my group is great.

5th Day of Class

Today there is something that changes my mind by leaning Public Communication. In the past, I believed that if you had excellent oral communication skills and you looked good in appearance, you would be a good speaker. However, it is not at all. The most important part in a successful presentation it is not how wonderful you present; it is how interesting in your speech that audiences are stimulated to keep listening. Next presentation, I would strive to focus on setting a certain subject and some good examples to make audiences turn on to listen rather than concern about other things.

Communication is a form of art

Communication seems very simple because it happens anywhere and anytime.  However, a good communication can benefit you, whereas a bad one might stand in your way. This was our discussion in today class. We talked about communication between individuals and organizations, and analyzed what results it might be if we use different ways to communicate. Communication is a form of art because the feedback depends on what form you choose and how the other party interprets it.  

February 4th

Today we talk about what different between community with interpersonl and organization. Because of different result or feedback when we community with interpersonal and organization, so we use different type communication. Like when we community with organization, we use any professional setting. Also even when we community with interpersonal, like our friends, family or the kid, we also use different communication. It just depend on different environment.
At last, professor show us why we give speech in the public. One is persuasion, to change the audiences' thinking ( value, belief, attitude, but the attitude is the most easily to change). The second one is gaining information. The last one is to entertain. I think this is interesting for me.
After we finish this class, professor ask us to do the group project. So our group make the video today. This is my first time to make the video, I feel nervous, but I try my best to do well. I hope our group project will be successful.

Week 5- Interpersonal --- Organizational

In todays class learned about the following topic interpersonal/ organizational, which made me go back and think if I speak in this two different ways. In my case I had always spoke in these two different ways. With my friends and family I speak to them in a more informal way but always with respect because I like to respect everyone, so they could to the same with me. In a organizational meaning like in school or at work I do the same with respect but in a more formal and professional way. I found out that what I do that I shouldn't do is telling people like classmates and other workers at my job too much about me. Of course I don't give them a self- disclosure about myself but if they ask I'll give them personal information, but from now on I wouldn't give much information.

In Sum in this class I learned a lot of information that I wasn't aware like the quid pro quo law. This was a law that is out at in our world and I had no idea about this. I always come out from class very thankful with our professor for learning so much form his class, and also for giving me knowledge of important information. The most important I had learned from our professor is to take feedbacks in a positive way and that we don't see what others could see from us. Also to take the feedbacks positive and learned from our mistakes. In this class in our 5th week helped me discovery a mistake I was doing giving people from school and work personal information about me, that from now on I wouldn't do it anymore.

Interpersonal communition.

The class was very interesting because I learned what different between informal and formal communication. Also, it is important to understand what we try to say because we talk with our mother different than friends. sometime, I talk with my mother the way I talk with my friends. She tells me what I try to tell her. I think that it is very important to be careful the way we talk.

Behaviors in the Professional World

An interesting thing that the professor told us today. Being at the dentist office, the dentist comes out and says to a lady "Yo you, whats up?!" Surprise surprise the lady got offended. Why? Because the dentist wasn't speaking in a professional manner. That was not a very appropriate way to approach someone in a business environmet. If he were to talk like that, to me he can go for it but only if he knows the person well enought and can joke around like that. No one should really have to go up to him and say " Hey, that isn't the right way to talk to someone in any profession." Maybe some people really don't know this, but I find that hard to believe.
What is a flat organization? Back in the day's business owners didn't communicate to their lower level emplayees. Yes that was a bad thing. But back in the day's I don't think that they really cared either. Now a days they do care, and it is a big deal. Through technology all off that changed. The top man can send a simple e-mail and send it to everyone in the company... Amazing!!! We have people now that go and listen to workers complaints or even approval of things. They try to make it as best of a working environmet as possible, which is a wonderful thing. I know that I want to be happy in my future career, and have my opinion not only heard but taken into consideration...

Group Projects...

So I was saying before that I have rather done for our class group project media and communication.... and that I thought our topic, which is different forms of language, was a little boring. Well what do you know, when we got into our groups last week it kind of wasn't boring. I actually had some fun, and I think that we can pull this off. Yeah getting the film together will be a hard task to do, but we are all smart kids who can handle ourselfves. I'm writing this right now because I accidently forgot to blog last week so you are going to see two blogs from me right now. Lesson learned, don't doubt anything untill you actually get to doing it!

Today.....very interesting call!!! We learned that we have to speak diferentelly with our friends, family, children and how to speak in organizations...at work.
We have to be very carefull how to speak at interviews for a job, or if we have a job, to know and respect people that we work with or for.

the 4th day of class "relationship"

strong>That was the 4th day of the class, time goes so far if we don't even realize it. First my group member and I went to computer lab and searched information about the video project. that was the opportunity that we could spent time together and discussed what we're going to do on project processing. Later on, when we back to the class, the professor taught us about what is relationship and how it grows in our lives. It didn't seen that difficult for me to understand the relationship before professor went through over with us, but it just not fully understood. It makes me more confusing at some points. I know that is our responsibility to do the right when we certainly be conscious of it.

day 4- group project

Basically the whole day we spend it talking about the group project. The teacher gave each group 4 hours to go out of the classroom and plan our project. We went to the library and printed out the materials necessary for our topic. Then, we went to the cafeteria an organized all the ideas. After a while we had lunch together and we got to know each other a little bit better. It was really nice to work with them. When we went back to the classroom and Mr.Trapani talked about interpersonal communication; how relations grow or die overtime. It was really interesting what the teacher said about realtions if you act in a certain way over and over you will always find the same type of people and this is true, I can tell by my own experience. I will have to change my behavior so I can find other types of people.

Group project

It was our 4Th day and professor gave us plenty of time to work in groups on our projects. We had the time to assign roles by our leader, go to the library, do the research on our project and share ideas. The rest of the class we spend talking about interpersonal communication, how it effects relationships, and how relationships grow, stay stagnate or die overtime. "We can't change people, but we can change behavior".

last friday we discussed about our group project, the teacher gave us the opportunity to go out and to organize our group project video. So, we found some teachers and students and we start interviewing them for the film. We did a lot of work that they, we finished with shooting and we will start editing next week. I hope we will finish on time.

This class was pretty chill. My group became a team and met up at the computer lab in the B building.
I believe by getting breakfast and eating together we somehow were able to comfort ourselves and speak up about certain personal subjects as well as the project. We were able to create a script and each person was assigned a part.
I'm sooo excited. Next week we have props and costumes ready to be played out with, and were gunna bring it onnnnn!

On Friday, we spent most of the day with our groups preparing our presentations. My group members and I went to the library to work on some research and writing out information about our own cultures. Our task for the weekend was to take some short films and pictures during the week so we can combine and edit our work together Friday after class. In class we learned about the different levels in relationships.
After I started taking this course it has helped me realize things about myself that I didn't pay attention too before, for example when the professor makes the remarks about not being good enough, I do laugh because I picture someone saying it to themselves over and over in front of a mirror. But that's how I feel about my parents especially my mother, enough is never enough for her and even though it's hard because I'm so focus on pleasing her and making her happy I do have to try to live and make myself happy. When I was younger I decided to do the complete opposite of what my parents wanted me to do just to annoy them but I ended up only hurting myself in the long run. So after I got myself together I thought pleasing mom and dad was the right thing to do to keep us happy and avoid future arguments but of course that doesn't work. But when I do try to only focus on pleasing myself my mom always finds a way to switch it up and say I don't care about her and I'm being selfish. Maybe I'll move far away, preferable to California or somewhere in Europe and I won't have to worry about it LOL, that has always been my plan.

Week 4

That day, we were doing our group project. We had 4 hours to work on our project. Before the day, i did some research about our topic and i wanted to be a funny style. When we started to do the project, we first discuss what should detail information be present. Then we went to interview some people like students and professors. Then we also filmed them and we film some scenes by ourselves. I hope our project will be succeed.

The fourth Class

Today, we worked with our group project. We collected our individual information researched from the internet and discuss them, then picked some out that we felt useful. Pamela is our good leader, she organized our discussion and type them down. Every group member attributes their idea. We planed to take the video next class and hopefully we can finish it soon. I really enjoy in this group because everyone seems nice and responsible. I am looking forward we have a good work in this project.

The forth day class

Although the weather was bad, the street was slippery after snow storm, but we still had to go to class. we had spent 4 hours on our group project, all we are cohesiveness, and we have the same purpose is that we want to try our best to present our film and we want to get the best grade. In the lunch time, we went to cafeteria where located opposite of the 7 train. So far that day, we finished the filming part, but we need to edit it in following weekday. When we went back to class after the lunch, we discussed the relationship, grow overtime and die overtime..... because i have the similar relationship...well, it's enough, that's one of my self-disclosure.
Moreover, we learned Mark Knapp and his approach about relationship, which has different stage. From his lecture, i recalled that i have 4, 5 best friend in my country, we only meet each other 1,2 time since i moved to US. But, we still keep in touch, we never forget each other. I really need to thank that we are living in the age of technology, so i can keep contact with my friend, no matter how far it is.

The fourth day class

The fourth day class, the professor gave us enough time to discuss our group project. Our group is ready to talk about ethos, logos, pathos, which is an useful topice for us to study and review. Everyone who is in our group is hard working. We have different tasks to do, and everyone researched and prepared. Finally, through our discussion we decided to use three speeches in our video. I like our group's memeber, and I believe we will have a good work at the end.
After that, we came back at 2pm, the professor taught us what interpersonal is. Also, I have learn whether a person lies. The professor told us that everyone has a baseline. After class, i recalled my relationship with my family, friends and so on.......

Well it was the 4th day of class and it was very interesting. We had about 4 hours of group project work. My group went to the library and did research on our project for a half the time. Furthermore in class we learned about Interpersonal Communication and how it builds relationships. I learned how relationships either grow overtime or they die overtime. I learned about Mark Knapp and his study of relationships.

the fourth day of communication

Today was very simple, my group and I went to the school library to start working on the group assignment that we were given. So far all is well, my only dilemma is that I'm not so good with filming so I'm going to have to be a learner instead of a teacher.Everything else is going very smooth basically all of us finished our pieces that we are going to say on the video.Probably by next class we will be able to video tape. All the other groups seem to have the ball rolling on there projects too, I can't wait to see the outcome. Other than our project that we spent most of the time on we started talking more about interpersonal communication. He basically started off about people's baselines,and that is how a person normally acts or reacts to something. When that baseline chances something is wrong for example a bad liar, baselines are not visible that person may act totally different than there baseline. A good liar you may not see that he/she is steering away from the baseline because they don't make it noticeable,they are conscious of it. I also learned a little about Mark Knapp a relationship researcher and how relationships develop. First it is self disclosure, then experiment, then intimacy, lastly bonding. This is how relationships either grow,stay stagnate or die.

Today professor gave us 4 hours to prepare our group project. So my group members went to the computer lab to find out the famous speech about how to show the ethos, pathos, and logos. Our leader gave different task for each one, so that we can just focus on our part. Also we share ideas to each other and everyone is very conscientious. So today we almost finish the reasch part and we plan to make the film next week. I think we can do well in this group project.
After we discuss the group project, professor continue to talk about the interpersonal community. I think it look very easy, but it is also hard to handle. Relationship are built through communication. Relationships fail because people blame each other rather than looking at their beahvior patterns. We can't change people, but we can change behavior. We also talk about the baseline. So we should observe ownbehaviors as well as those of our partners, self-disclose appropriately, give effective feedback.
