Communication.............
I am really not a shy person, but when i am meeting people for the first time i do become very quite. I am very glad that we were able to walk around and talk to our classmates so i can break out of my shell. Professor Trapani had us to do two group activities for our class this was a good thing because we were able to talk to diffrent culture diversity, and to be in diffrent groups. The most important thing was that we were doing what we came here for, and that is to communicate with people.
I have learned alot from chapter one, and two. I have learned how communication was form, and where did it come from. It was formed it the fifth centy in Sicily. The five cannon of rhetoric, and they are invention, style, arrangement, memory, and delivery. In also what Aristotle believed, and it is that how someone can sway people. They are ethos to a personal charter , pathos is to arouse emontions, and logos is logic of message. Definitions of communication and there are ten including the Proffessor. The perspective are Psychological forcus on what goes on in your mind, social constructionist people using their culture in groups, pragmatic has to do with behaviors and the way the act around each other, and we learned much more.
An expression of thoughts, feelings, and attitudes, inspired by Prof. Trapani's Speech Communication Course, shared by LaGuardia Community College students.

The first day
This is the first day we take the HUC 101 course. I think it is a funny class for me. When we start the class, professor Stanto Trapani ask us to introduce yourself to our classmate walk around the classroom. At first, I was very scare and I didn't like to talk with the strangers. But I think I was wrong. After we did this exercise, I felt more confrotable and I thought we will have funny in this class in the next 6 weeks. Also this is my second times take professor Trapani's class, I think he is a nice and helpful professor, I believe we will have a good time in his class.
Before I take this course, I think community is just what each other share their information and we just learn how to talk with each other. I never image there are a lot of things we should learn about the community. In the first day, we learn about the history the community. It is I never know before. We also learn about the definitions, models and perspectives about the community. After this class, I realize how the community is important in our world.

First Day / Week 1
By first opening the door, I noticed that there was not much interaction between my classmates that had made it into the room before myself. Fortunately the awkward silence did not last long as we were all instructed to roam freely through out the room and interact with our fellow classmates. From there on there was a certain comfort level which allowed us to work with more of a group dynamic. As the class progressed I felt free to add my input to what was being discussed. By the time we had begun the interviewing process it was clear that the class was in full swing. The activities we had been participating in made for a much more productive environment as I felt slightly more familiar with everyone.
Once we got past preliminary introductions and "breaking the ice" everything seemed to flow seamlessly. By delving further into what communications as a whole really entails I learned the many depths of what goes into every human interaction. A primary example of this would be learning that communication, preformed and participated, involves understanding each other clearly. This process consists of both giving and receiving information. Although I was aware of this concept prior to taking this class, some light has been shed on the different ways communication is literally viewed. Body language is something that I have learned carries a lot more weight in communication than I had imagined. I will be taking all of this into account in my upcoming oral presentation as well as not letting "F.E.A.R." inhibit me from excelling at it.
First day
It was snowing in the morning , i was later because the train ....,..ok back to the topic .Fundamentals of Speech Communication is the only class that i have on friday.when i was there, the professor was look at me. i was scare...when i sitting in the room, i feel like he is cool person. my major is business, because i am interesting with anything relate to business. he said he also like business. i gus this is the reason why i think he is cool.
The first day of class is total fine, he is very clearn speaking , and a very nice preson. in the first class i learn lots of things about communication that i didin't know before. For example, the four perspective in understanding communcation. first one is psychological perspective, second one issocial constructionist perspective, and the next one is pragmatic perspective, and the last one is cultured perspective. i am only going to talk about one of it because this is the biggest thing that i learn in the first class. "PRAGMATIC PERSPECTIVE" it is kind of like we usually put different people into differernt types, for instance, we sharing secrets to one friend, and we play and jokinng with anothers. when we were talking to someone we always doing this, without even know it. this topic just make me think lots of things......which is sercets~
PS: First time in blog~~~

My first class
Today was great. When I first came into the class I thought that it was a huge classroom, but after we did the ice breakers I was totally comfortable with asking questions and talking. We are all human and most of us have a fear of speaking in front of large audiences, except for Monica ,she is funny. I also learned that Stephanie and I have the same english class on Saturday which is cool too. I love Steven other name caha Chang( i know that is beyond the wrong spelling) but it's like caching like the sound of change in a old fashion cash register. I did a presentation on Andy and he seems really smart. I even saw Karolina from my english class in fall 1. Prof Trapani seems like a really effective teacher and i am looking forward to the rest of the semester although i really don't think he is deaf, i think it is a technique to get us soft spoken people to speak up.
Other than that I learned the history of communication started with rhetoric, which was started in Sicily by sophist name Corax and Tisias. It was further developed in Greece by people who we are more familar with such as Aristotle. Although the Italians were the founders of the technique of persuasion, they were not ethical which meant they were not always truthful, that was the difference between Greek rhetoric. the Greeks studied methods ethos which is being truthful and using valid sources, pothos, which is tapping into a person's emotion so they can better understand you, and logos, which using critical thinking and statistics so that a person can also better understand why your topic is important to you.we also learned about perspective and how history is going in a circle academically, from rhetoric to faith during the renaissance era up to modern times using rhetoric and science.

Starting
Today is snowing day, i'm going to my first day of classes, speech communication, which is consist of different kinds of communication.
At the beginning of the class, all people don't know each other, so we introduce ourselves.
The reason i chose this course because i need to be confident and improve my speaking skill.
Therefore, i don't want to be quiet. In the coming six weeks, i will try to speak as much as i can, even the english is not my first language. As my professor said, many asians are expected to be quiet, but i disagree with that. These asians are quiet because they don't speak well in english, the situation is simlar to if a person who speak english properly move to China, i believe that person will be quiet as well. In fact, they are outspoken, they are enthusiasm and they are talkative...etc...
During the Fall 1 break, i was disappointed that i can't register for prof. Trapani's course. I was late to realize i need to take speech communication course that requires for my major. I came back from the Tennessee trip before the first day of classes, i tried to register his course, and i got it!
I really like this professor, appreicate his work. I like the way he teachs and we can see how he concerns the student by making up the information and class notes on the blackboard. Also, he is experienced professor who makes the course interesting!!!!

Sadly, the class is over. but on the other hand, I have learned so much from what I expected.

Next semester, I am very sure that I will be more active in class and be more confident in interacting inside and outside the class. This class made a in my big and amazing impact in my life.

Last Class
We have finally come to an end of our class. I wish that we had more time but i know that the end to to come sometime. Everyone was nervous about class because we had two presentations to give. One was a group presentation and the other was a individual presentation. We did the individual one first. Mine was to persuade you to never get married. I had some really good feedback. I was told that I was holding back and didn't show a lot of confidence while doing my speech even though I usually come across as very confident in every day life. I really liked a lot of the other presentations. They were very persuasive and made you think. A lot of people were really nervous but they still did a really good job. But I do think that everyone was better this time around because we were more comfortable with each other. The second presentation was great. All the groups did a wonderful job. They were very creative and still professional but fun. I absolutely loved them. As for my group, I was a little disappointed and thought that we could have done a better job with everything. We did a presentation about "how media affects communication". It was really an experience working with other people that don't have the same drive as you. But it did teach me a lesson. That regardless of if someone does something or not, the job still has to be done. There is no time to sit and think about emotions because that is not going to help you achieve your goal. In all I am still very proud of the fact that we still did a good job considering the circumstances. This class has been a very liberating experience. I honestly learned a lot in these few 6 weeks. I would recommend this class to everyone. I find myself talking about what was done in class to my friends and family because the info that I got was so good that I just had to share it. Congrats to everyone. Stay consciously aware of all your surroundings.
Last day of class
Throughout this six week session in the class i have learned so not only about the class but, myself as a person have grown. I never thought communication was not that important in todays world but, i was wrong communication is everything. Without communication we as humans that we are wont be albe to function. To me communication is everything for example as this world continues to develop communication is in need of every demand. I have as a person learned so much about myself. I never thought i would open up and talked about my life. When we shared stories in the class about how thier lives have i was shocked we have our very sad moments in life and we can not let it interfear with our future. I was able to find myself and think deeply about life in every shape and form. Professor Trapani to me has been the best professor i have had in Laguardia. That professor has taken his time to hear about our life and tells us we all move on. That what is right and wrong about life. No one ever in my life has been such a good professor. I am happy to say that i have learned about and matured.
