In the second class, Prof. Trapani talked about the importance of listening in the communication. To listen is to understand. I have personal experience of that. Because English is quite different from Chinese, and it is hard to acquire it in a short time, I have a big problem to communicate with some person who speak English fast. In order to give a right response, I always have to ask them to say again. From it to see, listening is really important in the communication process. I really enjoy this class because Prof. Trapani speaks so clearly that I can understand him almost. Moreover, students’ enthusiastic participation that makes the class more active. A small show illustrates us two ways to comfort a sad friend that makes the effect different. It is a good example to understand what a proper response is. The other big event is that each of us made the self-disclosure presentation, and it was not only a chance to practice our speech, but also a bridge to get to know each other.
I know that learning another language can be hard, i have been really trying to learn how to speak Spanish for a long time and i still am having trouble. I am proud that you are brave enough to ask people to repeat what they said so that you understand. when i entered high school i started to ask people to repeat themselves because before i thought that if i didn't get it the first time that i was slow or i couldn't comprehend as fast as other students, so that shows a confidence .keep up the good work with your English you seem to be doing a great job
